#37 Clementine

Last week, the Monday Meals crew dined at #37 (making progress) Clementine, located in Hamilton Hills.  This area was one in which most of the group was not familiar; the drive there from the city was a little "rough" but the town itself was quite nice - maybe worth exploring further!

I would describe the atmosphere of the restaurant as eclectic - there were antlers on the wall as well as jellyfish paintings, large scale rustic chandeliers and large square tables, a refrigerated room with half glass walls so the hanging meat and trays of eggs were visible from the dining space - very unique.  Speaking of unique, there were drawers on two sides of our table, both filled with napkins, on the napkins were sketches, messages, riddles, and trivia, which made for an entertaining wait.  Speaking of the wait, we waited QUITE a long time for our meal.

Clementine offers an extensive selection of beers, wines, ciders, and cocktails, and as described in Sun Magazine, "you can still get the rib-sticking, meaty comfort food that put this family favorite on the map, but keep your eye on Asian-influenced entrees like the red curry stir fry and the seafood ramen."

I would say about half of our group really enjoyed their meal, and the other half was not overly impressed (just being honest).

Here are some of the items we tried:

Confit Leek and Roasted Asparagus

Seafood and Chorizo Noodle Bowl

Spring Vegetable Risotto

House Made Sausage Plate

Bacon Wrapped Meatloaf

We also tried two desserts, the Pecan Pie and the Golden Layer Cake with Chocolate and Peanut butter Frosting, but they disappeared before we thought to get pictures.

#36 on the list is Wit & Wisdom in Harbor East, but a few of us have already been, so next month we'll be skipping ahead to #35 Cafe Troia, in Towson.
