#11 Cinghiale

No Monday Meal in January because a few of us were in Germany!  I should do a separate post all about German food, but to keep this one short, if you go to Germany, their version of Mac and Cheese is called Kaese Spaetzle, and it is amazing, I would highly recommend it!

Some other German cuisine, just for the heck of it (not a huge fan of the sausage, but I obviously did ok with the dessert) ...

Back to business, the first Monday Meal back in the states was on Monday, February 1st, which was also during the extended [due to the snow storm] Restaurant Week!  For this we tried #11 Cinghiale in Harbor East.

I am sorry to say, we were not that impressed.  From the Restaurant Week menu, you could choose an appetizer, a main dish and a dessert for $35.  Important to note though, on their regular menu, they have a similar deal, for $29, and that's all the time!

For the most part we were happy with the appetizers, but those who got soup said it was warm, but not hot ...

I think everyone enjoyed their main dish, however, as you will see, those who got the scallops did not overeat ...

Dessert, I think we were split down the middle, some loved it, some didn't ...

Our last complaints, while I'm at it, are that the service was slow - long wait times in between courses, and the lighting was low - it was quite tricky to read the menus and to see what we were eating, case in point ...

I will say that the decor and overall ambiance was quite nice!  They have a more casual side, with booths, a bar, and of course, a cheese carving station, and then a more upscale side for dining.

Cheese Carving Station

I am glad we tried it, and it is close and convenient to where most of us live, so while it is not a place to rush back to, I might give Cinghiale another try some day!

We don't seem to do a great job of working through the restaurants in order, but if we manage to this time around, our March Monday Meal (I love the alliteration) will be #27 Maggie's Farm.  We'll be skipping #30 Wine Market Bistro, #29 Bluegrass Tavern, and #28 Gertrudes, as most of us have already tried those places!  That means, skipping the rest of the restaurants we've already been to, we only have 18/50 left, that's progress!
